Imagine a clear sky filled with a fiery red sunset falling behind the water of the mysterious Pacific. You are nestled between two oak trees in a hammock on the deck of your new home breathing in the warm salt air and listening to the comforting sounds of the sea along the world’s most famous coastline.

Approximately 185 acres of pristine Central California Coastal property. The Grimes is located approximately three miles South of the Ventana Restaurant in Big Sur, California.

A gated private access road off of Highway 1 provides easy access to and from the property.

The Grimes unique mountain composition ranges from sea level to approximately 2,800 feet. The land is adorned with oak trees, redwood groves, waterfalls, streams and dramatic ocean views. The waterfalls and redwood groves in Grimes Canyon represent truly one of Mother Nature’s finest works.

There are two potential building sites on the property. The sites are located directly above (and out of sight of) the spectacular Nathaniel Owings residence. Both of the sites are located on Parcel III of the enclosed map.

Privacy and the preservation of the natural conditions in the area immediately surrounding the property are enhanced and secured by scenic easements on both the north and south ends of the property.

Scenic easements encumber 117.31 acres or 63.2 percent of the 185.59 total acres of The Grimes. The easements do not restrict the two potential building sites on the property.

The easement is a positive attribute to the property. Big Sur has one of the tightest land use plans in the United States and easements help to protect the rare beauty of the breathtaking coastline.

The property has one rustic cabin equipped with a bathroom, bedroom, and living area including a kitchen. Native oak trees and panoramic ocean views surround the cabin. The cabin is sited within one of the two potential building areas.

The property offers a diversity of wildlife including black tail deer, wild boar, bobcat, mountain lion, dove and quail. The annual migration of the Gray Whale can be seen from the property, offering a front row seat to one of natures greatest productions.

The Grimes should be noted for its privacy, natural splendor, and the recreational opportunities that the Big Sur Coastline has to offer.
